چکیده

Abstract Background Rainfall is the key contributor to provide soil moisture for wet season rice (T. Aman) cultivation. Erratic rainfall often causes water shortage resulting negative impact on plant growth and grain yield. The study aimed determine suitable transplanting window that utilize maximum T. Aman rice. Firstly, three years field experiment were conducted in Kushtia, Bangladesh from Aman, 2013 2015, then findings implemented another two adjacent locations, Panba Rajshahi. considered six dates of popular cultivar BR11 (growth duration 145 days) at 7 days interval starting 10 July 14 August. CROPWAT 8.0 model was used calculate crop requirement (CWR), effective irrigation demand (ID) collected weather data each phase Results In all locations received enormous up vegetative no tested years. early more reproductive than late planting. Thus, Irrigation increased with delay moderate drought prone Pabna A significant relationship (R 2 = 0.71) observed between ID yield, while yield responded weakly ripening phase. Based performance 10–24 found Kushtia. Considering 10–17 best Rajshahi, respectively. Conclusions Location specific windows selected considering minimum Delay demanded reduced Whereas, utilized rainfall, stage ensured desired

A Multi-Agent Model to Help Managing Rainfall Variability in the Rainfed Lowland Rice Ecosystem of Northeast Thailand

Rainfed lowland rice (RLR) production is the main activity in northeast Thailand. Unpredictable droughts and coarse-textured soil are the main constraints usually cited to explain the low yields and economic poverty of this region. Past studies tried to improve the drought tolerance of rice varieties and hydrological functioning at the field level. How water is used at the farm level remains la...

Prediction of hydrological events for planning rainfed rice

Daily rainfall and evaporation data of 30 years (1969-1998) are analysed for prediction of hydrological events, such as occurrence of effective monsoon (EM) and withdrawal of monsoon (WM), for planning rainfed rice in Eastern India. Those hydrological events are treated with normal (ND), lognormal (LND), Pearson type 111 (PTD), and log-Pearson type 111 (LPTD) distributions. The historical data ...

in the vast rainfed regions, diminishing returns from the public irrigation systems, climate change induced chaotic fluctuations in the hydrologic regimes and a large demand-supply gap in non-cereal food items are all compelling reasons for the need to realise the production potential of rainfed farming areas. Little control over the rainfall and absence of suitable mechanisms for storing or co...

Determining the Best Planting Density in Mechanized Transplanting of Rice Compared to Manual Transplanting in Conditions of High Seedling Age

It is important to determine the appropriate planting density in the conditions of using old seedlings of paddy rice. For this purpose, a field experiment was conducted as a randomized complete block design at Qaemshahr, Northern Iran, in four replications and in two years, 2020 and 2021. Plant densities consisted of manual-traditional planting of up to 11 hills/m2 (with unequal planting spaces...

Comparison of Parachute, Line and Traditional Rice Transplanting Methods at Farmer’s Field in Rice Growing Area

Parachute transplanting method of rice as compared to line transplanting and farmer’s method of random transplanting was studied at 10 different locations viz., Kamonki, Wazirabad, Daska, Pasroor, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, Hafizabad and Sheikhupura during 2003 and 2004. Super Basmati was used as test variety. Yield and yield components of three transplanting techniques, averaged across 10 lo...
